🌱 That “Little Habit” is Killing ME

"Little Habits" Big Mistakes

There’s something I want you to sit with today.

What if that thing you keep saying:

“I need to stop doing that…”

…is no longer “just a little habit”?

What if it has quietly become:

  • a pattern
  • a comfort zone
  • a coping mechanism
  • or even a lifestyle you’ve unconsciously perfected over the years?

Because after a while…

👉🏽 Repeated behavior stops being accidental.

It becomes a choice we continue choosing.

And that’s not judgment.
That’s awareness.

Sometimes we minimize behaviors because calling them what they really are would require us to confront ourselves honestly.

But emotional intelligence asks us deeper questions:

  • Why do I keep choosing this?
  • What emotional need is this meeting for me?
  • What belief system have I attached to this behavior?
  • Who would I have to become if I finally let it go?

Because sometimes the issue isn’t the habit itself.

👉🏽 It’s the identity we built around it.

And maybe that’s why change feels scary.

Not because we don’t know what to do…
but because we don’t know who we’ll be without the thing we’ve normalized.

So here’s something I want you to try this week:

Instead of only asking:

“How do I stop?”

Ask yourself:

👉🏽 What is the alternative?

What else could I choose?
What would healthier look like?
What would peace look like?
What would discipline look like?
What would honesty look like?

Then ask:

👉🏽 What is the worst that could happen if I chose differently?

Really sit with that.

Because many times, the fear keeping us stuck is:

  • imagined rejection
  • imagined failure
  • imagined discomfort
  • imagined uncertainty

And yet…

Remaining the same also has consequences.

So now the question becomes:

👉🏽 What will you do about it now that it has been brought to your conscious awareness?

Will you continue repeating it unconsciously?
Or will this finally become the moment where awareness turns into action?

Spend some quiet time reflecting on:

  • the behavior
  • the belief attached to it
  • the fear beneath it
  • and the version of you waiting on the other side of change

Because growth rarely begins with perfection.

👉🏽 It begins with honesty. 💜

P.S. If you know someone that can use this, feel free to share.

See you Soon Significant One!

Give Yourself a Deadline. Hello, Beautiful People. Last week, I had coffee with a family friend. She's worked for the same organization for over 21 years. Twenty-one years. As we talked, I asked her a simple question: "How are you really doing?" She paused. Then she looked at me and said something that stayed with me. "Dr. Dale... I'm tired." Not tired because she doesn't love what she does. Actually... She still loves the work. She loves serving people. She loves making a difference. What...

Why Your Silent Season May Be Your Most Important One Hello, Beautiful People. Can I just start by saying... Thank you. Thank you for reading.Thank you for subscribing.Thank you for sharing my content.Thank you for cheering me on.And thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your growth journey. These past few weeks, I've been a little quieter than usual. I traveled.I attended a few conferences.I spent precious time with family. And I intentionally gave myself permission to slow down......

I was about 17 when my grandmother died. That was almost 20 years ago now, and only later in life did I begin to realize just how much of her lives in me. The way I laugh. The way I ask questions. The way I care for people. The way I can be playful, nosy, bold, and deeply sentimental all at the same time. So much of who I am was shaped by the woman who helped raise me. Growing up as an Afro-Latina from Roatán, Honduras, I learned that love in our Caribbean homes does not always come wrapped...
